Air source heat pumps can provide low cost space heating for homes & are ideal for properties not connected to the gas grid or for well insulated new build homes.
Air source heat pumps take the warmth from the air outside (even when it’s quite cold) and use it to heat the home. The heat pumps are extremely efficient and can produce up to 5 x more heat than the energy they use.
There are 2 types of air source heat pumps.
Air source heat pumps integrate well with other renewable heating sources such a solar thermal hot water systems or biomass stoves.
Solar panels may provide all the required domestic hot water during the summer months removing the need to run the heat pump at all.
The Glow-worm Clearly Hybrid System combines the use of an air to water heat pump with almost any traditional boiler. The heating system automatically selects when to use low carbon renewable energy from the heat pump or traditional energy from the boiler – to always use the most efficient method of heating & hot water.
Theses systems are eligible for RHI payments & can be funded through the Government Green Deal.
